Two ways people order for Mother's Day

Almost every Mother's Day order lands in one of two shapes, and they cost very different amounts, so it helps to decide which one you are doing before you ask for a quote.

The gift box

One dozen, one treat type, boxed with a ribbon and her name on the front piece. This is the order for a son or daughter who wants something personal that is not another bouquet. A dozen decorated Oreos at $45 with Mom hand lettered in her favorite color is the most requested version. It travels well, it sits on the counter looking pretty, and she gets to show it to people before anyone eats it.

The brunch table

Three or four treat types in the same two colors, set out next to the coffee. This is the order for the family that hosts twenty or thirty people at the house. Blush and gold, sage and cream, or lavender and white all read as Mother's Day without turning the table into a kids party.

What to put on them

First Mother's Day orders are their own little category. Those usually pair a dozen Oreos with the baby's name and birth date alongside a few cakesicles in the nursery colors.

How many treats for a Mother's Day brunch

Two to three pieces per person is the rule that holds up. If there is a cake or a pastry tray on the table too, stay at two. If the treats are the whole dessert, go to three. More detail in the guide on how many treats per person.

Ordering for more than one mom

Plenty of families are buying for Mom, both grandmothers and a mother in law on the same morning. A dozen splits cleanly into three or four small boxes, each with a different name lettered on it, and there is no extra charge for the different names. One pickup, four gifts, and nobody gets the leftover one.

Timing and pickup

Mother's Day weekend is one of the two or three busiest dates on the calendar, and the Saturday and Sunday morning pickup slots go first. Two to three weeks of notice is the sweet spot. Treats are made fresh close to your date, and you pick up on Staten Island the day before or the morning of. If your date is inside two weeks, text and ask before assuming it is closed. Short notice dates do happen and there is no rush fee.

Once you have them home, keep the box at room temperature and out of the sun. Nothing needs to be refrigerated. The storage and freshness guide covers how long each treat holds.
