What people order for St. Patrick's Day
March on Staten Island runs on three kinds of parties. There is the Forest Avenue parade in West Brighton, where people set up on the curb and hand things out. There is the house party on the 17th with corned beef and a folding table of dessert. And there is the school classroom, where every treat has to be sealed and sent in a bag.
All three want the same thing from a treat: it has to be individually wrapped, it has to survive a car ride in cold weather, and it has to be green enough that nobody asks what the theme is.
- Pretzel rods are the parade item. Salty, sturdy, easy to hold with a glove on, and they give the tray height.
- Custom Oreos carry the shamrock, the year or a family name. Flat top, clean lettering, no smudging.
- Rice krispie treats feed the most people for the money and hold up outside better than anything else on the list.
- Jumbo marshmallows take a two tone dip beautifully, green on the bottom and white on top with gold sprinkles across the seam.
- Cakesicles and cake pops are the centerpiece pieces. One or two dozen is plenty for a table.
How many you need
- Curbside at the parade: three to four dozen pretzel rods and rice krispie treats. People walk by and take one, so count higher than your guest list.
- House party, 20 to 30 guests: two to three dozen across two treat types, or the Petite package at $150.
- Party for 40: the Classic package at $225, four dozen across four types.
- Big family party, 60 to 80: the Deluxe package at $325 plus a dozen cakesicles.
- A classroom of 25 kids: two dozen wrapped Oreos or rice krispie treats, one each with a few spares.

Getting the green right
There is more than one green and the wrong one makes the whole tray look flat. Kelly green with white and gold is the classic and it is what most people picture. Sage green with cream and a little gold reads softer and works better for a brunch or a bridal shower that happens to land in March. Deep forest green with white piping looks sharp for a pub or a business handing treats to customers.
Gold is what keeps it from looking like a party store. A gold rim on the Oreos and gold sprinkles down the pretzel rods do most of that work.
For a bar, a firehouse or a company handing these out, a printed logo on the custom Oreos is the move. That is edible photo printing and it adds $10 to $15 a dozen.
Parade day and travel
March in New York is cold, which is good news. Every piece goes out individually wrapped, so a tray can sit in a bag on the sidewalk for a few hours without a problem. Pretzel rods and rice krispie treats are the most forgiving. Cake pops and cakesicles are happier indoors on a table.
If you are feeding a whole block, the same logic applies as a block party order: fewer types, more of each, all of it wrapped.
Timing
Two to three weeks ahead. The week of March 17 books first because the parade weekend and the holiday hit back to back and everyone remembers at the same time. Treats are made fresh close to your date and picked up on Staten Island the day before or the morning of. If you are inside two weeks, text me and I will tell you honestly what is still open.

- A 50% retainer holds the date. Venmo, Zelle, or cash. The balance is due at pickup.
- Pick up on Staten Island. Trays are packed so nothing shifts on the ride home.
