Friendsgiving Treats on Staten Island

Your friends bring the sides. You bring the dessert tray everybody photographs before they eat. Made on Staten Island, ready two to three weeks out.

The short answer

Friendsgiving treats are hand decorated desserts in fall colors that you bring to a Thanksgiving dinner with friends. Sprinkled Sweets makes them on Staten Island starting at $40 a dozen. A dinner for 12 needs about three dozen, roughly $130, and names can be lettered on each piece so they double as place cards. Order two to three weeks ahead and pick up locally.

Why bring treats instead of another pie

At most Friendsgiving dinners there are already two pumpkin pies on the counter by 6 o'clock. Nobody needs a third. A tray of decorated treats does a different job: people can grab one standing up, it holds up on a buffet for hours, and it is the one thing on the table that gets photographed before anyone eats.

It also solves the hosting problem. If you are the host, you are already cooking the turkey. Ordering the dessert means one less thing in your oven on the day.

What goes on a Friendsgiving tray

How many to order

When the treats sit next to pie and everything else people brought, three pieces per guest is the right number. When the treats are the only dessert, plan on four.

If you want name place cards on every plate, count one extra Oreo per guest on top of the tray. Not sure on numbers for your crowd? The treats per person guide walks through it.

Colors and designs

Burnt orange, deep red, mustard gold and cream all read as late fall. Pick two plus a gold drizzle. Stay away from black and bright orange together, because that reads as Halloween, which is a different tray. If you want that look for October, see the Halloween treats guide.

Popular designs: little leaves in three shades, a pie slice, a turkey for the kids' table, Thankful in script, and each friend's name in gold. A group photo from last year printed on a few Oreos is a nice touch and adds $10 to $15 a dozen through edible photo printing.

Timing

Two to three weeks ahead. Friendsgiving dinners land on the weekends right before and right after Thanksgiving, and those Saturdays fill first, so reach out in early November if your date is one of them. Treats are made close to your date and last about two weeks sealed at room temperature, so a Friday pickup for a Saturday dinner is no problem.

Hosting the family dinner on Thursday too? The Thanksgiving treats guide covers the bigger table, and you can order both together in the same colors.

Common questions

How much do Friendsgiving treats cost on Staten Island?
Pretzel rods are $40 a dozen, custom Oreos and rice krispie treats are $45 a dozen, and jumbo marshmallows run $45 to $55 a dozen. A table of 12 friends usually needs three dozen, which comes to about $130.
How many treats do I need for a Friendsgiving of 12 people?
Plan on three pieces per guest when there is pie on the table too, so three dozen for 12 people. If the treats are the only dessert, go to four dozen.
Can you put each guest's name on a treat as a place card?
Yes. Hand lettered first names are included at no extra charge. A custom Oreo with a name on it set on each plate doubles as a place card and a favor.
What colors work best for Friendsgiving treats?
Burnt orange, deep red, gold and cream read as fall without looking like Halloween. Pick two of them plus a metallic gold drizzle and the tray photographs well under warm dinner lighting.
How far ahead should I order for Friendsgiving?
Two to three weeks. The Saturdays before and after Thanksgiving book up first, so if your dinner falls on one of those weekends, reach out at the start of November.
Will the treats travel if I am bringing them to someone else's house?
Yes. Everything is packed flat in a tray so nothing shifts on the ride. Keep the tray on the floor of the car, not on a heated seat, and out of the refrigerator once you arrive.
