A sip and see is the party you throw after the baby is born, so guests can meet the baby. Sprinkled Sweets makes welcome baby treats for it on Staten Island: hand decorated Oreos with the name and birth date, dipped pretzel rods, rice krispie treats, jumbo marshmallows, cake pops and cakesicles. Pricing starts at $40 a dozen and packages start at $150. Count two to three pieces per guest and pick up locally on Staten Island.
Why a sip and see needs different treats than a baby shower
A baby shower is a seated party. Everybody arrives at one o'clock and eats dessert at the same moment. A sip and see is nothing like that. People stop by for twenty minutes on their way somewhere, hold the baby, take a picture, and leave.
That changes what you put out. A sheet cake sitting on a table for four hours dries at the edges and the last guest gets the sad corner piece. Individually wrapped treats sit out the whole time, look as full at four o'clock as they did at noon, and a guest can pick one up with one hand while holding the baby with the other.
What to put on the table
- Custom Oreos are where the name and the birth date go. Flat surface, clean hand lettering, and they photograph well next to the baby.
- Pretzel rods add height in a jar or a vase and give you the salty option for the guests who are not dessert people.
- Rice krispie treats get taken home for the kid who stayed with a sitter.
- Jumbo marshmallows fill a lot of table for the money and hold their look for hours.
- Cakesicles are the centerpiece item. One dozen is usually enough, set at the front of the display.
How many to order
The counting math for a sip and see is different because guests overlap instead of sitting down together. Plan for two to three pieces per person invited, not per person in the room.
- Around 20 guests: the Petite package at $150, three dozen across three types.
- 35 to 40 guests: the Classic package at $225, four dozen across four types.
- 60 guests and up: the Deluxe package at $325, eight dozen, plus a dozen cakesicles up front.
If you are also serving a cake or a cookie tray from the bakery, drop to two pieces per guest. If treats are the entire dessert, stay at three. More on this in the guide to how many treats per person.
Colors that work for a welcome baby party
Most people carry over whatever they used for the gender reveal, which is a fine shortcut. But softer palettes read better in newborn photos. Sage and cream, dusty blue and white, blush and gold, terracotta and ivory. Two colors, three or four treat shapes.

Putting the baby on the treats
Hand lettering the name, the birth date, the weight and the length is included. The actual hospital photo on the Oreos is edible photo printing, which adds $10 to $15 a dozen. Newborn close ups print better than most people expect. Send the highest resolution file you have and I will tell you how it will come out first.
Timing when the baby sets the schedule
Two to three weeks of lead time still applies, but you often will not know the party date until the baby is a week or two old. Text me while you are still pregnant with a rough window, then confirm the exact date once you pick it. Nothing is due until then, and there is no rush fee. If you are already inside a week, read the notes on last minute orders.
How ordering works
- Send your details. Use the order builder, text 718-715-5740, or DM @sprinkledsweetsxo. Give me the date, the baby's name and spelling, your colors, and how many people are invited.
- I send a quote. You see the exact total before anything is due.
- A 50% retainer holds the date. Venmo, Zelle, or cash. The balance is due at pickup.
- Pick up on Staten Island. Trays are packed so nothing shifts on the ride home, which matters more than usual when the person doing pickup has a newborn in the back seat.
Payment
Venmo at @jennine-pece, Zelle to 718-715-5740, or cash at pickup. A 50% retainer reserves your date and the rest is due when you pick up. See the full payment options.
